If you are feeling emotionally overwhelmed or worried about your mental health, speaking to your GP is often a good first step.

  • Talk through your concerns
  • Check for physical causes
  • Prescribe medication if appropriate
  • Refer you to specialist services

If you feel your GP may need more time, you can request a longer appointment or write down your concerns in advance.
