The Accessible Information Standard ensures that patients receive information they can understand and are given appropriate support to communicate effectively.
👥 Who the AIS helps
The Accessible Information Standard supports people who:
- Are Deaf or hard of hearing
- Are blind or partially sighted
- Are Deafblind
- Are living with dementia or other communication needs
- Use a different first language
✅ What we will do
We follow five key steps to make sure your communication needs are met:
- Ask – if you have any information or communication needs
- Record – your needs clearly in your medical record
- Alert – staff so your needs are known
- Share – with other services where appropriate and with your consent
- Act – to meet those needs every time you use our services

We can provide information in a range of formats, including:
- Large print
- Easy Read
- Braille
- Telephone
We can also arrange interpreters or additional communication support where required.
